Cleaning instructions

 To clean a handwoven basket:

  1. Dust thoroughly using your normal duster, and also use a small brush (eg a clean old toothbrush or clean old makeup brush) to get any dust out of the grooves.
  2. Use a damp microfibre cloth (make sure there's no excess moisture in the cloth) to wipe away any remaining dust or dirt. You can also dampen the small brush you used previously to get into the grooves thoroughly.
  3. Dry using a completely dry microfibre cloth to ensure no moisture stays on the natural fibres.

How to deep clean a handwoven basket

  1. Clean thoroughly using a dry microfibre cloth, and also use a small brush (eg a clean old toothbrush or clean (new) paintbrush) to get any dust out of the grooves.
  2. For any deep build-up like wax or food, use a toothpick to gently get the build up out of the grooves of the weave without damaging the fibres.
  3. Use a mild antibacterial spray just on the area that's soiled, making sure not to make the fibres too damp or wet.
  4. Use a damp microfibre cloth (make sure there's no excess moisture in the cloth) to wipe away the remaining dirt. You can also dampen the small brush you used previously to get into the grooves thoroughly.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the dirt has been completely removed.
  6. Dry using a completely dry microfibre cloth to ensure no moisture stays on the natural fibres.

If the fibres feel damp to touch ensure the basket completely dries out before use. You can use a hairdryer on low for a quick-dry or leave in a dark, dry place to dry naturally (eg an airing cupboard).

Try to avoid using any chemicals on your baskets or bags. These are natural fibres and may get damaged from chemicals.

If baskets or bags become damp at all, ensure they completely dry out before use.
